Mentor: Ms. Arelene-Frances Wu (Mission Caridad Limited)
Hitomi Kimura
My experience in this job shadowing programme at Mission Caridad Limited has been invaluable, greatly enhancing my understanding of marketing within the nutrition and wellness sector.
My main responsibility was managing the social media page for a charity my mentor was running, Mission Caridad. This project aimed to raise awareness for caregivers of the sick by providing daily essential self-care tips on how to prioritise their wellbeing. I found this particularly unique and admirable, as society often overlooks the hard work they contribute. This role not only allowed me to apply my marketing skills but also deepened my appreciation for the important work carried out by caregivers.
Personal growth has been one of my key revelations. I have gained confidence in my ability to produce meaningful content and connect with an audience. Furthermore, I have developed a deeper sense of empathy and understanding for the challenges faced by caregivers. This new perspective will undoubtedly influence my future work in marketing, encouraging me to prioritise audience needs and focus on creating a positive, impactful message.
Overall, my job shadowing programme was a transformative experience. My interest in pursuing a career in marketing, particularly in the health and nutrition sector, has been reinforced, and I look forward to applying what I learned in future endeavours.
Mentor: Ms. Jennifer Lee (Subject Matter Limited)
Rachel Dong
My three-day job shadowing at Subject Matter Limited under Ms. Jennifer Lee was a transformative experience. Moving beyond observation, I created a comprehensive proposal for a new Instagram account promoting Hong Kong's cultural events, which involved research, content strategy, and visual mock-ups.
I gained practical skills in social media strategy and observed the operational side of a creative agency. The most meaningful lesson came from Ms. Lee herself. Learning about her non-profit initiatives showed how business can serve as a powerful tool for social good, successfully blending profit with purpose.
This experience was profoundly affirming, reshaping my career ambitions. It strengthened my desire to pursue marketing or PR, but more importantly, it instilled a resolve to find purpose-driven work. My aim is now to locate a vocation where I can use my skills to make a positive difference. I am deeply thankful to Ms. Lee for her mentorship, which offered clarity and inspiration for my future studies and career in ethical, impactful business.

Throughout my five-day job shadowing experience with the Pearson portfolio team, I gained valuable insights and learned a lot about a leading educational publishing company. Assisting them in creating 72-unit tailored lesson plans for a primary school in Macau and learning more about the company’s goals ignited my passion for the education sector and further piqued my interest in the business side of the industry.
The team’s dedication to teamwork and excellence in crafting forward-thinking educational materials for students around the world was truly commendable. Their teamwork is one thing I am very impressed by. Producing the 72-unit tailored lesson plans was an eye-opening experience. Moreover, experiencing the team’s strategic framework and international market analysis deepened my awareness of key industry challenges.
Undoubtedly, this first-hand experience has reinforced my determination to pursue a career in education or publishing within an educational company in the future.

Mentor: Ms. Catherine Lam (RIMAN Hong Kong)
Ava Au, Charlene Chan, Harmony Cheng, Natalie Cheuk & Natalie Kwan
On 23rd August, the 5 of us had the privilege to participate in a half-day job shadowing experience at RIMAN Hong Kong. During this session, we gained valuable insights as our mentor, Ms. Catherine Lam, shared with us about her experiences, and we had an interactive conversation.
Ms. Lam shared her inspiring career journey, detailing her progression from accountant to her current role with the luxury skincare brand RIMAN. She introduced us to the company's innovative business model, which redefines how modern businesses can grow. Unlike traditional brick-and-mortar models, RIMAN operates on a network marketing model that allows individuals to become independent sellers. This platform offers a win-win: sellers act as their own bosses with minimal risk, earning a commission on sales, while RIMAN rapidly expands its consumer reach through these personal networks. We analysed how this approach allows the brand to gain market popularity faster than its traditionally structured competitors.
Overall, this experience has been enriching and rewarding, providing us with a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship in the cosmetics industry and equipping us with valuable skills. We are eager to apply our learnings in real life. We are grateful for this job shadowing opportunity.

Mentor: Ms. Cheng Yuen Kan (UPE Publishing (HK) Ltd – Marketing)
Carlie Cheung
During my job shadowing at United Prime Educational Publishing (HK) Limited’s booth at the Hong Kong Book Fair, I was tasked with promoting and attracting customers to purchase supplementary exercises and textbooks. I was amazed by the creative marketing strategies employed, which reshaped my understanding of the field. For instance, distributing balloons drew crowds, creating a lively atmosphere, while a dedicated booth entertained children, allowing parents to browse educational materials longer. These innovative tactics highlighted how marketing blends creativity with practicality, adapting to real-time customer reactions to boost sales. Applying my Form 3 physics knowledge in STEM workshops further showed me the value of interdisciplinary skills. Though I aspire to a finance career, this experience inspired me to consider finance roles like fintech, where creativity and analysis intersect, enhancing my adaptability and problem-solving skills for future endeavors.
