Our job shadowing experience at Oval Partnership provided a comprehensive view of an architect’s daily life. The day began with an insightful two-hour discussion on adaptive reuse, featuring case studies such as Hong Kong’s PMQ and Bangkok’s All Seasons Place. This session highlighted strategies for overcoming site constraints while balancing heritage preservation with client demands.
We then participated in a client meeting for a Bangkok shopping mall complex (All Seasons Place), where we observed real-time collaboration between the client and the architectural team.
After a team lunch, we toured the office, which showcased the firm’s own adaptive reuse of their workspace. In the afternoon, we attended a technical introduction to LiDAR surveying technology, reviewed Oval’s historical projects, and engaged in a meaningful conversation about building materials, procedures, and the division of work within an architecture firm.
This experience offered a valuable immersion into both the practical and philosophical aspects of working at a world-class architecture firm.
