During ourJob shadow at Healing Hands Physiotherapy Centre,We had the chance to seek advice from my mentor and communicate with Year 3 physiotherapy students from PolyU who were carrying out placements at the centre. We also got to observe the process of aphysiotherapy session.
We observed our mentor administering acupuncture to his patient, who suffered from a hamstring strain. Then, we watched the interns design a strengthening program for a patient four months post-recovery from ACL reconstruction surgery. The patient was instructed on the exercises and given a prescribed frequency based on how laborious each exercise was.

The interns gave us an in-depth introduction to the different specialities in physiotherapy, including neurology, cardiopulmonary, pediatric, geriatric, sports, and orthopaedics. They also shared their university life as physiotherapy students at PolyU and tips on preparing for this career path.

On July 15th, we visited Physio Solutions Limited (New) for a two-hour physiotherapy job shadowin gexperience. Although it only lasted two hours, we gained many insights into the field.
At the start, our mentor shared his experienceas a former team doctor for the Hong Kong Olympics team and mentioned the possible career paths for those studying physiotherapy. Afterwards, we observed how our mentor used shockwave therapy, massage, and laser treatments to help patients relax their affected muscles. Our mentor also introduced the different instruments used during the therapy sessions. He emphasised the importance of asking patients questions to understand their situation and provide the best treatment.
Overall, the shadowing experience gave us an idea of how physiotherapists work daily in a clinic. We also learned more about the different fields within physiotherapy and the duties of physiotherapists.
