Our job shadowing took place at BBDO Hong Kong, an advertising firm, from 20th August to 29th August, 2018. During this period, we gained insight into the field of advertising through numerous tasks, projects and workshops.
The two of us worked closely with the creative team to get first-hand experience of working on a product promotion campaign. Our mentors explained to us the meticulous processes behind developing a campaign, and we were allowed to participate in daily authentic tasks in the office such as attending progress meetings and evaluating a colour proof. We also had the chance to pitch our own campaign – analyzing the brand, its competitors and their marketing strategies, and the product’s audience before presenting our own campaign ideas to our mentors. We were exposed to new ways of audience analysis and brand research through a number of workshops, which empowered us to further evaluate and improve our work.
Throughout the week, not only did we obtain knowledge and experience about the advertising industry, but also acquired communication and analytical skills applicable to our daily lives. Our time at BBDO Hong Kong is a valuable educational experience, and we are very grateful to BBDO and our school for providing us with the learning opportunity.
