Architecture

Mentor: Mr Vic Tai

Bertha Choi, Katherine Wong, Judith Yu & Natalie Yu

On the first day of our job shadowing program at Mr. Tai’s personal studio in Shek Kip Mei, Mr Tai introduced to us the field of architecture, a profession that we may consider in our future careers. Talented and artistic, Mr Tai also showed us one of his small scale sculpture pieces that he had worked on.

First, he showed us the proposal/idea behind his work, then the process of developing the idea and finally experimenting with materials. Later that afternoon, we accompanied him to Tamar Park to see the real sculpture at that site. We also visited the Hong Kong Legislative Council to see and appreciate its interior designing.

The following day, our field trip to Central to visit a number of historical and award-winning architectural sites in Hong Kong proved to be quite interesting.

Overall, we all found our job shadowing experience to be a great learning opportunity, helping us to understand more about architectural field as a future career.
