Mentor: Mr. Victor Tai

Brittany Chan, Haley Chau, Nicole Cheung, Maisy Lai and Odile Mok

On the first day shadowing the architect Mr. Tai at his studio, he introduced us a project he has been working on - The Kai Tak Sports Park. Going through the process from overall planning of land use, to detailed functions of the stadium, he emphasized the importance of cooperation.

Besides, he showed us his sculptures and explained their meanings behind. Then, we went to Tai Kwun where he toured us around, introducing us the buildings in an architectural perspective, such as the technical difficulties in revitalizing buildings so as to fulfill modern regulations while preserving most of the buildings’ essence.

On the second day, we visited landmarks in the Central and Western District, including HSBC Building and the Central Government Offices. He also pointed out challenges of making a life-size sculpture of his work at Tamar Park.

Overall, it was an invaluable experience for the five of us. We would like to express our gratitude to Mr Tai for sharing with us his working experience. We all gained a better understanding of the career path of an architect.
