My job shadowing experience at Hong Kong Arts Festival Society Ltd (HKAF) was indeed a valuable one. Upon arrival of the company Hong Kong Arts Festival Society Ltd., located at Hong Kong Arts Centre, another student and I were greeted by Ms Tisa Ho, the Executive Director of HKAF who invited us to her office for a brief on the organization.

We were informed that as an Executive Director for the HK Arts Festival, Ms Ho coordinates and oversees the committee, making important decisions such as ticket pricing for the art festival events and signing contracts with sponsors. She also was responsible for coordination to ensure a smooth working of the event, holding meetings with colleagues to ensure a seamless implementation of the event.

Aside from job duties, an interesting event I took note of was intense discussion between Ms Ho and another colleague regarding ticket pricing. Both had convincing arguments for their proposed pricing plan. Eventually, a compromise was success fully made.

Observing this exchange, I understood that to be in Arts industry, one not only needs to have creativity and open-mindedness, but also possess skills of persuasion, strong communication as well as decision making skills.

Since Ms Ho was a former Paulinian, we enjoyed talking about the difference in school life during her time at SPCS and today. Ms Ho looked back on her school life with fond memories.

Although I job shadowed Ms Ho for only 4 hours, I learnt that Ms Ho had a flexible daily schedule which allowed her to maximise the use of her time on both work and leisure. She also discussed with us the career options we could pursue, emphasizing the fact that we should focus on a job that we would enjoy doing.

Overall, it was a very rewarding job shadowing experience and I am glad to have collected many 'gems' from Ms Tisa Ho.
