We were engaged in the job shadowing experience from 20 to 22 August at the IBIS Hong Kong North Point. It is a valuable opportunity for us to job shadow the staff closely at the hotel, this is a remarkable experience for us.
In these three days, we observed and learned about the daily running of different departments including the food and beverages department (F&B), front office department, housekeeping department, etc. We asked lots of questions about the hotel industry and the staff were willing to answer in details. Apart from these, the staff from different departments also shared with us some remarkable or funny experiences which they had encountered. We can also see that all the staff were very professional and put the customers in the heart of everything they do. Every department is important to the hotel and they are all indispensable.
Through this experience, we have an in-depth understanding of the hotel industry and the commercial world. Moreover, our mentor also provided his precious advice which is very helpful for us to plan for our future.
